PARK FOREST, Ill.-- The Purdue University Northwest men's tennis team picked up a huge Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory against Michigan Tech, 5-2, at Park Forest Tennis and Fitness Club Saturday afternoon.
The Pride were able to sweep the Huskies in doubles. Senior Moritz Gisy (Duesseldorf, Germany) and freshman Gregory Kvint (Philadelphia, Penn./Lower Moreland) defeated Michigan Tech's Mario Neto and Siddhesh Mahadeshwar at No. 1 doubles, 6-2.
Sophomores Leon Kah (Munich, Germany) and Dru Kennedy (LaPorte, Ind./LaPorte) get the victory at the No. 2 spot against Nico Caviglia and Ignacio Carbajosa 6-2. Junior Jonluke Passett (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandberg) and senior Mauricio Villacres (Guayaquil, Ecuador) were able to complete the sweep with a score of 6-3 against Juan Felipe Chica and Nathan Sodini.
Gisy gets the victory at No. 1 singles on his senior day against Michigan Tech's Mario Neto, 7-6, 6-3. Kah won at the No. 2 singles against Nico Caviglia 6-1, 6-0.
Kvint defeated Ignacio Carbajosa in three sets at No. 3 singles 5-7, 6-1, 6-1. Villacres was able to get the victory at the No. 5 singles against MTU's Juan Felipe Chica in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
PNW is back at it tomorrow against Lake Superior State at Park Forest Tennis and Fitness Club starting at 10 a.m. CT.
