Box Score 2 HAMMOND, Ind. – The Purdue Northwest softball team dropped its final two regular season games of the season Sunday against the Northwood Timberwolves. They lost the first game 9-4, and fell 9-1 in the second game of the doubleheader in five innings.
GAME ONE
Grace Dutoi got things started in the top of the first with a double that bought home Abby Joseph for the game's first run. After three more runs came across, senior Kalyn Learnard crushed an opposite-field home run to get PNW on the board.
Amanda Noblett scored on an error from the first basemen to cut the lead to 4-2. The following inning, PNW Freshman of the Year Madi Schultz hit a home run to right-center field that brought home Kalyn Learnard and evened the game at 4.
The Timberwolves would put up five runs in the final four innings and closed out game one with a 9-4 victory. Freshman Ashley Bravo lasted two innings and allowed six hits and four earned runs. Mia Stevens came in for relief and threw five innings with seven hits and four earned runs with one strikeout.
GAME TWO
The second game of the day was more of the same for the Pride, as Northwood hit the PNW pitching hard. NU scored five runs in the top of the first inning, including home runs from both Grace Dutoi and Julia Gross.
Dutoi struck again in the second with an RBI double to right center bringing home Tara Gross. Taylor Kotzo brought home the only run of the game for PNW as she doubled in the fifth to bring Madi Schultz home.
Sam Burgard got the start in game two and went the full five innings allowing nine hits and nine earned runs.
