Box Score 2 DETROIT, Mich. – Purdue University Northwest softball lost a pair of games to Wayne State University Tuesday afternoon.
Game 1: Wayne State 3, PNW 2
After the Warriors took a 2-0 advantage in the fourth inning, the Pride were down to its last three outs, trailing by two in the top of the seventh.
Junior Emma Hendricks (Henryville, Ind./Henryville) came up with a clutch two run homer, which plated Sabryna Stanley (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Central) after she pinch ran for Taylor Mendenhall (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg).
It took extra innings but Wayne State was able to pull off the win, coming away with the 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth.
Game 2: Wayne State 3, PNW 0
The game was even through the first two innings, but Wayne State was able to string together a couple of runs in the third to take a 2-0 lead.
The Warriors scored one more run in the bottom of the fifth and shut the Pride out the rest of the way to complete the series sweep.
The Pride will face off with Saginaw Valley State Friday afternoon in a doubleheader beginning at 230pm (CST).
