ALLENDALE, Mich. – Purdue University Northwest softball lost a pair of games to Grand Valley State University Wednesday afternoon.
Game 1: GVSU 6, PNW 1
After Grand Valley took a 2-0 advantage in the third inning, the Lakers added another one in the bottom of the fifth.
PNW would get that run back in the top of the sixth after Madison Schultz (Lafayette, Ind./Faith Christian) drove in Zoee Anderson (Lafayette, Ind./ Lafayette Jefferson) to make it 3-1.
GVSU scored three runs in the bottom half of the innings and eventually came away with the 6-1 win.
Game 2: GVSU 9, PNW 1
The second game was tied until the bottom of the third inning, when GVSU put the first run of the game on the board to take an early 1-0 advantage.
PNW would get that run back immediately in the top of the fourth inning after Schultz connected on her third homer in four games to even the game at 1-1.
The Lakers would put up eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to complete the sweep over the Pride.
The Pride will host Wisconsin Parkside Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader beginning at 1pm (CST) at Dowling Park.
