Gisy Wins at Singles and Doubles; Men's Tennis Falls to Northwood Saturday

MIDLAND, Mich. -- Senior Moritz Gisy (Duesseldorf, Germany) won at No. 1 singles and Gisy and Gregory Kvint (Philadephia, Penn./Lower Moreland) won at No. 1 doubles but the Purdue University Northwest men's tennis team dropped a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match to Northwood, 6-1, Saturday.

Gisy and Kvint picked up the victory at No. 1 doubles against NU's Kobus Sauerman and Pablo Salamanca, 6-3. Gisy captured the match at No. 1 singles against Northwood's Kobus Sauerman in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5. 

The other two doubles matches were close as Northwood won both 6-4 against PNW. At No. 2 doubles, Northwood's Hayden Drury and David Reinauer defeated sophomores Leon Kah (Munich, Germany) and Dru Kennedy (LaPorte, Ind./LaPorte), 6-4. Senior Mauricio Villacres (Guayaquil, Ecuador) and junior Jonluke Passett (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandberg) fought hard but ultimately fell at No. 3 doubles, 6-4.

Kvint won three games in the first set at No. 3 singles and two games in the final one but NU's Ben Brandherm, 6-3, 6-2. Kah fought hard at No. 2 singles but NU's Reinauer won the match, 6-2, 6-3.

PNW concludes their regular season tomorrow, Sunday, April 14 as the Pride travel to No. 36 Grand Valley State to take on the Lakers starting at 9 a.m. CT.
