Men's Tennis Suffers Setback to #46 Ferris State Friday

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Purdue University Northwest men's tennis team dropped a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match to the No. 46 team in the country, Ferris State, 7-0, Friday. 

Ferris State won two out of the three doubles matches to go ahead 1-0 in the match going into singles play. Junior Jonluke Passett (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandberg) and senior Mauricio Villacres (Guayaquil, Ecuador) captured the victory at No. 3 doubles against FSU's Cedric Ropa and Jack Seymour, 6-4.

Sophomore Leon Kah (Munich, Germany) nearly won the first set at No. 2 singles before falling in back-to-back sets to Ferris's Nur Adim Ramdani Iswan, 7-5, 6-1. Sophomore Dru Kennedy (LaPorte, Ind./LaPorte) almost forced a three-set tiebreaker at No. 6 singles against Connor Douglas but FSU came out on top, 6-1, 6-4.

Senior Moritz Gisy (Duesseldorf, Germany) picked up two games in the opening set and recorded four in the last set but he was unable to come out with the victory against FSU's Steward Sell, 6-2, 6-4. Freshman Gregory Kvint (Philadephia, Penn./Lower Moreland) was able to win two games in the first and three games in the second set but Pablo Munoz Baroja won the match, 6-2, 6-3.

PNW returns to the courts, Saturday, April 13 as the Pride travel to take on Northwood starting at 9 a.m. CT.
