PARK FOREST, Ill. -- Junior Carolina Yepez (Guayaquil, Ecuador) won at No. 3 singles, sophomore Anna Wachowski (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) picked up the victory at No. 5 singles and freshman Kelli Canul (Munster, Ind./Munster) was victorious at No. 6 singles, but it was not enough as the Prairie Stars defeated the Pride, 4-3, at Park Forest Tennis and Health Club, Saturday.

The Prairie Stars won all three matches at doubles competition to go ahead 1-0 in the match going into singles. Canul and Wachowski came up close at No. 3 doubles, but Maegan Flight and Steph Reynolds picked up the victory, 6-4.

Yepez defeated UIS's Kaitlyn Thornhill at No. 3 singles in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Canul picked up the victory at No. 6 singles against UIS's Kate Dumstorff, 6-3, 6-0.

Wachowski was victorious at No. 5 singles against Reynolds, 6-4, 6-2.

Freshman Patricia Dizon (Arlington Heights, Ill./St. Viator) won four matches in the first set and three in the second but UIS's Kena Bere won the match, 6-4, 6-3. Sophomore Lena van Bergen (Wesel, Germany) picked up two games in the first set and four in the second but Flight came out on top, 6-2, 6-4.

PNW has a quick turnaround as the Pride travel to Hillsdale College to take on the Chargers Sunday, March 3 starting at noon CT.
