PNW Begins GLIAC Conference Play at Davenport

PNW at DU will tipoff at 4:30 p.m. (CT)

HAMMOND & WESTVILLE, Ind. -- The Purdue Northwest Women's Basketball team will tip-off their GLIAC conference slate with a pair of road games in the state of Michigan, beginning with their Thursday evening matchup against the Davenport University Panthers. Tip-off on December 5 is set for 4:30 p.m. (CT) in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The Pride currently stand with a 2019-2020 record of 1-5, last seen falling to University of Illinois-Springfield 68-59 on November 23. Leading the way in multiple statistical categories is Savaya Brockington (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central), who is currently averaging team-highs with 10.8 points on 26 made field goals and 4.8 assists per game while logging 201 minutes during her first six collegiate games. Brockington has also recorded three blocks so far this season, the second-most on her team behind Brittany Barnard (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo), who has four.

Other statistical leaders include Anjel Galbraith (Vallejo, Cal./Salesian College Prep), who is currently sitting at 8.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals in her 31.8 minutes per game. Galbraith has shot a team-high 46.2-percent from behind the three-point line as well to begin her freshman season.

Danielle Nennig (Wrightstown, Wis./Wrightstown) has been all over the stat sheet for the Pride so far, averaging 9.5 points and a team-high 6.0 rebounds in her 172 minutes on the court. Nennig has also collected team-highs with 14 offensive rebounds, 22 defensive rebounds, 11 steals and 15 free throws attempted. Her 10 free throws made are tied with Molly Devalkenaere (Milwaukee, Wis./Brookfield) for the team lead.
    
As a team, PNW has 86 assists so far on the season for an average of over 14 per game. They have recorded 41 steals for an average of almost seven per game.

Davenport begins their GLIAC conference slate with a 4-3 overall record, as they were last seen defeating Olivet College 89-46 on November 30. The Panthers are currently riding a four-game winning streak, scoring 82.5 points per game on average during that span. Toni Grace (18.4), Madison Jones (18.0) and Elise Scaggs (10.6) lead Davenport in points per game, and Scaggs is also leading the Panthers with 7.6 rebounds per game.

Following Thursday's game, the Pride will take on the no.3 nationally-ranked Grand Valley State Lakers in Allendale, Michigan on Saturday, December 7. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m. (CT).
