HAMMOND, Ind.—Purdue Northwest Volleyball welcomed the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers to the Fitness and Rec Center in Hammond, Indiana on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day. After taking a 23-22 lead in the third set, the Pride could not overcome the Rangers, falling 0-3, concluding the 2019 PNW Volleyball season. The 2019 Pride lose two seniors,
Eudora Negri (Munster, Ind./Munster) and
Brooke Carter (Chicago, Ill./ King College Prep), both of whom were four-year members of the PNW Volleyball.
Outside Hitter
Brooke Carter played in 21 matches this season with 56 kills and 28 blocks. Brooke plans to attend graduate school for athletic training, and an internship with Athletico. Over her career, Carter appeared in 66 matches for the Pride with 136 kills and 100 career blocks.
Setter
Eudora Negri played in 18 matches this season. After suffering a concussion against the St. Xavier Cougars on October 16, Negri was able to finish her career with an ace to start Saturday's match against the Rangers. After she graduates, Eudora looks to find a coaching job, with dreams of becoming an athletic director. Over her career, Negri appeared in 100 matches with Purdue Northwest, with 415 career digs, 37 kills and 114 aces.
Today also marks the end of
Julie Wiejak's tenure as head volleyball coach for the PNW. Over her six seasons as PNW Head Coach, Wiejak led the Pride to success both on and off the court. Under her leadership, the team posted a 3.57 GPA in the spring of 2019. Her focus on giving back and enthusiasm for community service has left a mark on her players, both past and present. PNW Athletics thanks Coach Wiejak as she takes on a new role as Senior Executive for Strategic initiatives in the Chancellor's Office.
