Box Score HAMMOND, Ind. - - The Purdue Northwest Women's Soccer team played hard and hung around against the Ashland Eagles on Friday afternoon, October 4, at Dowling Park. The Eagles scored two goals late in the first half, which concluded the scoring for the afternoon. Faith Lewis (35th minute) and Korinna Lakes (37th minute off the assist from Emily Ledbetter) put the Eagles in front for good.
The Pride got touches from players up and down the roster, with six shots taken by six different players. Freshman GoalkeeperÂ
Leonie Heck (Rösrath, Germany/Albertus-Magnus) gathered two saves for the Pride, as she was in net for all 90 minutes.
"We played a really aggressive game," said Head Coach
Jake Truty. "We went out against a team that put up two different formations. We just need to keep learning, and moving forward, we need to keep our eyes on Sunday's game."
PNW Women's Soccer will next be in action on Sunday, October 6, as they host the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals on Breast Cancer Awareness Day at Dowling Park. Kickoff will be at 1:30 p.m. (CT).
