HAMMOND, Ind. -- The Purdue University Northwest Pride hosted the nationally ranked Michigan Tech Huskies on the
John Friend Court, battling it out in three sets before eventually falling with a final score of 0-3.
The Pride were unable to stop the Huskies' early momentum in the first two sets, closing them out with scores of 15-25 and 12-25, respectively. It was in the third set, however, that the Pride found their confidence and battled it out. Taking the lead at several key moments during the third set of play, the Huskies were eventually able to take a narrow lead and the win with a final score of 22-25 over PNW.
The Pride were led on the scoresheet by Byranna Moonen with eight kills,
Annie Pulizos and
Rachel Wilkening with two blocks each,
Holly Faley with 18 assists and
Danielle Fowler with 13 digs.
The day was also a special occasion for the Pride as it was Camper Reunion Day, where campers from the summer events came to the game to hang out with the team after competition. PNW players signed posters for the eager come campers, some of whom took part in the game as the official ball rollers.
The Pride will next be in action at home on Tuesday, October 29, when they will face off against the players from Illinois Springfield at 7 p.m. (CT). The night will also be the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's (SAAC) Trunk-or-Treat event in the Fitness and Recreation Center parking lot. All are welcome to come out in costume for Trunk-or-Treat and then attend the Halloween theme match that follows!
