PNW Takes Win Over Lake Superior State

SAULT ST. MARIE, Mich. -- Coming off a difficult 0-7 loss against Michigan Tech, the Purdue Northwest Women's Tennis team clinched a close win on the road over the Lake Superior State Lakers with a final score of 4-3.

"Hats off to the Lake Superior State's women's team," said Head Coach Lucian Tabic. "They've had some very difficult obstacles to overcome this year due to injuries, but you wouldn't have known that today. They came in fired up to defend their home court advantage and they competed to the last point."

The Pride took two of three doubles matches with the team of Olivia Kjaer/Julia Yannes-Barrera take a 6-4 win. Kjaer and Yannes-Barrera also took their singles match against the Lakers with scores of 6-4 and 7-6 for Kjaer and 6-0 and 6-3 for Yannes-Barrera.

"Our players responded well by staying focused and by working together on every court," said Tabic. "Yesterday was a tough loss but I'm happy with how each individual rose to the challenge to finish the last regular match of the fall season. It was a total team effort."
