Box Score KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Purdue University Northwest men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to non-conference opponent Truman State Sunday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (1-0-1) recorded the first goal of the match thanks to Trevor Kaufmann who put Truman State ahead in the 22nd minute.
Isaiah Nieves (Lyons Township, Ill./Lyons Township) notched his first goal of the season shortly after to even the score at 1-1. Both teams would remain scoreless for the rest of the half, heading in to the locker room even at 1 goal each.
Daniel Freedman (Newcastle, Endland/Monkseaton Academy) would also connect on his first goal of the year, giving the Pride a 2-1 lead early on in the second half.
The Bulldogs would even the score in the 71st minute on a goal by Jeff Masters followed by what would be the game winning goal in the 80th minute by Collin McDonough.
The Black and Gold recorded 15 shots, nine on goal compared to 11 shots and 6 on goal by the Bulldogs.
Purdue Northwest returns to action Thursday, Sep. 6 when they travel to Quincy, Ill. for a non-conference match with Quincy University at 2 pm (CST.)
