Box Score AlLENDALE, Mich. – The Purdue University Northwest volleyball team dropped a 3-0 road contest to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Grand Valley State Friday night.
After the Lakers earned a first set victory over the Black and Gold, the Pride took an early 5-3 lead in Set 2, after a kill from Carissa Jones (Whiting, Ind./Bishop Noll).
GVSU would even the score, followed by both teams answering each others runs before the Pride took a 14-13 lead midway through the set.
The Lakers would retake the lead later on, but the Pride answered back to even the score, 23-23 on a kill from Annie Pulizos (Greendale, Wis./Greendale).
Both teams would be tied at 24-24, but the Lakers would grab the final two points to earn the 26-24 Set 2 win.
Brooke Carter (Chicago, Ill./King College Prep) would give the Pride an early lead in Set 3, but the Lakers would answer to even the score at 13-13 before going on to win the final set, 25-16.
Jenna Del Santo (St. John, Ind./Andrean) led the Black and Gold with eight kills while Eudora Negri (Munster, Ind./Munster) finished with 24 assists to lead the Pride.
PNW returns to action Saturday to take on Davenport University in a GLIAC contest starting at 12 pm (CST).
