Box Score HAMMOND, Ind. -- Despite 15 kills from senior Jenna Pasko (Lansing, Ill./T.F. South), PNW volleyball lost in four sets in their GLIAC home opener Tuesday against the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers. Pasko was just two digs short of a double-double, and Annie Pulizos (Greendale, Wis./Greendale) ended up hitting an impressive .385.
The Pride took complete control of the first set, as a combination of nine kills between Pasko and Jenna Dal Santo (St. John, Ind./Andrean) propelled the black and gold to a 25-17 victory. Eudora Negri (Munster, Ind./Munster) added five digs as PNW hit .536 as a team.
In the second set, both teams battled down to the wire, as neither team was able to pull away. Parkside had the largest lead at four when they made it 9-5, before the Pride got a Serene Jones (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport Township) kill to make it even at 10. The score was all knotted up at 23; before Katie Adams got back-to-back kills to wrap up the 25-23 win.
The Rangers were in control during the third set before the Pride mounted a late rally to make it 19-19 following a Pasko kill. Parkside would take the last six points to grab a 25-19 win for a 2-1 set lead.
The final set was all Parkside for most of the set, as the Pride were down by as much as six. PNW would storm back and even take a 25-24 lead after a double block from Auburn Dodd (Chicago, Ill./Gwendolyn Brooks) and Carissa Jones (Whiting, Ind./Bishop Noll). The Rangers captured two of the last three points to win the decisive set 27-25.
