Grosseloh and Kah Win At Doubles; PNW Men’s Tennis Drops GLIAC Match To Northwood

GRIFFITH, Ind. - Sophomore Ulf Grosseloh (Maximiliansau, Germany) and freshman Leon Kah (Munich, Germany) collected up the victory at No. 2 doubles, but it was not enough as the Purdue Northwest men's tennis team dropped a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match to Northwood University (Mich.) Saturday. The Timberwolves (12-3, 4-2 GLIAC) defeated the Pride (7-10, 1-6 GLIAC), 8-1, at Match Point Tennis and Fitness Club in Griffith, Ind.

Grosseloh and Kah got the victory at No. 2 doubles against NU's David Reinauer and Ivan Medrgnskyi, 8-3. Northwood won the other two matches at doubles competition. Junior Moritz Gisy (Duesseldorf, Germany) and sophomore Mauricio Villacres (Guayaquil, Ecuador) obtained four games at No. 1 doubles, but NU's Mikhail Fomenkov and Kobus Sauerman achieved the victory.

Freshmen Dru Kennedy (LaPorte, Ind./LaPorte) and Carter Moldenhauer (Michigan City, Ind./Marquette) landed a pair of games at No. 3 doubles, but NU's Ben Brandherm and Pablo Salamanca pulled out the victory.  Gisy put up a battle at No. 2 singles against NU's Sauerman, forcing a third set; but he ended up dropping the third set and the match, 6-4, 5-7, 10-6.

Kah also fought hard in a three-set thriller, but dropped his match to NU's Reinauer at No. 3 singles, 4-6, 7-5, 10-7.  Villacres came up just short in his first set at No. 5 singles, but ended up falling in straight sets against NU's Salamanca, 7-5, 6-1.

Grosseloh won four games at No. 1 singles in the first set, but was unable to pick up the victory as NU's Fomenkov, 6-4, 6-1.  Diego Pimentel (Guayaquil, Ecuador) picked up a pair of games in each of his sets at No. 4 singles, but NU's Brandherm got the victory, 6-2, 6-2.
