Grosseloh, Kah Pick Up Wins; PNW Men's Tennis Drops GLIAC Opener Saturday

GRIFFITH, Ind. – Sophomore Ulf Grosseloh (Maximiliansau, Germany) won at No. 1 singles and freshman Leon Kah (Munich, Germany) won at No. 3 singles for Purdue Northwest, but Tiffin University (Ohio) won the other seven matches to give the visitors the 7-2 victory Saturday in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) men's tennis play at Match Point in Griffith, Ind. The Dragons started the match winning all three doubles match to go up 3-0 going into singles play.

Grosseloh won at No. 1 singles against Tiffin's Luis Ludena in a three-set thriller, 5-7, 6-3, 10-2.  Kah improved to 7-0 on the season in singles competition as he won at No. 3 singles against TU's Nikita Parfenov, 6-2, 6-1. 

Junior Moritz Gisy (Duesseldorf, Germany) and sophomore Mauricio Villacres (Guayaquil, Ecuador) fought hard at No. 1 doubles almost pulling off the match, but ultimately fell to Tiffin's Ludena and Elio Lezama, 8-6.  Kah and Grosseloh won four games at No. 2 doubles, but dropped their match to Navrotchi and Parfenov, 8-4. 

Gisy returned at No. 2 singles, but suffered a tough three-set match and lost to Tiffin's Santiago de la Rosa at No. 2 singles, 2-6, 6-2, 10-5.  Freshman Dru Kennedy (LaPorte, Ind./LaPorte) won four games in the first set, but lost his match to Sorin Navrotchi at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-1.

Junior Diego Pimentel (Guayaquil, Ecuador) won two games in the first set, but it was not enough as Tiffin's Toby Cutting won the match at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-1.  Villacres also dropped his match to TU's Tom Arias, 6-1, 6-2.

Purdue Northwest (6-5 overall/0-1 GLIAC) has a quick turnaround as the Pride host Wayne State University (Mich.) for a GLIAC match on Sunday, March 25. The conference match is scheduled for a 2 p.m. CT start at Match Point Tennis and Fitness Club.
