Box Score

WESTVILLE, Ind. – The Purdue University Northwest women's basketball team late comeback came up short as the Davenport Panthers defeated the Pride Thursday.

The Panthers (3-4, 1-0 GLIAC) defeated the Pride (2-4, 0-1 GLIAC), 67-62, in the conference opener at the James B. Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex.

Sophomore Danielle Nennig (Wrightstown, Wis./Wrightstown) led the Pride with 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Sophomore Shae Rhonehouse (Fremont, Ind./Fremont) had 13 points off the bench.

Freshman Molly DeValkenaere (Milwaukee, Wis./Brookfield) recorded her second double-double of the season, adding 11 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.

DeValkenaere nailed a three to put the Pride ahead 8-6 with 6:17 left in the first quarter. Davenport went on a run for the rest of the half before Lanie Allen (East Noble, Ind./East Noble) hit a layup before the half to cut it a 10-point deficit.

Midway through the fourth quarter, PNW went on a 5-0 run thanks to a jumpshot by Rhonehouse to make it 59-57 Davenport with 4:03 to go in the game.

Rhonehouse made it a 63-61 game after her three-pointer with 1:34 left in the game and Nenning made a free-throw to cut it to one with 0:49 left but Davenport was able to close it out to pick up the victory.

PNW returns to action Saturday, Dec. 1 as the Pride hosts the Grand Valley State Lakers at the Fitness and Recreation Center on the Hammond Campus starting at 3 p.m. CT.
