Box Score HAMMOND, Ind. – A late strike from freshman Kiana Chandler (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) gave the Purdue Northwest women's soccer team its first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) victory, 3-2, over the Northwood Timberwolves Sunday afternoon from Pepsi Field.
The Timberwolves struck first in the 23rd minute, as Talene Nercesian found the back of the net to make it 1-0. PNW would respond just a few minutes later as Brook Switzer (Lafayette, Ind/Jefferson) was able to knock it in off of a deflection by Northwood. Senior Shelby Ross (Marquette, Mich./Columbus North) was credited with the assist on the play.
Camryn Rassbach (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) would give the Pride the lead in the 30th minute as she powered a shot past the defense from the left side of the box, as it made the score 2-1.
Jessica Piper would even it up in the 85th minute as she drilled one through the side of the net past the outstretched arms of Halle Stork (Stanwood, Mich./Big Rapids).
Chandler was able to answer in the 89th minute with a game-winner as the crowd went wild on senior day at Dowling Park.
The Black and Gold return to action Friday, Oct. 12, when the Pride travel to Houghton, Mich. for a GLIAC contest at Michigan Tech at 4 pm (CST).
