Box Score HAMMOND, Ind. – The Purdue University Northwest women's soccer team dropped their regular season finale to Parkside on Friday but the Pride still earned a trip to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament which begins next Tuesday.
The Rangers (6-9-2, 4-5 GLIAC) defeated the Pride (4-13, 2-6 GLIAC), 2-0, at Pepsi Field inside Dowling Park.
Shelby Ross (Marquette, Mich./Columbus North) looked to get PNW on the scoreboard in the eighth minute but Parkside goalkeeper Adrianna Bratel was there for the save.
PNW was on the attack right before the first half ended as Brook Switzer (Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) recorded a shot attempt but it was also saved. Two minutes later, Sydney Hanson (Alma, Mich./Alma) tried to go for goal but Parkside was able to save it to stop any scoring chances from the Pride.
Parkside was able to get on the scoreboard first as Kayleigh Moore found Delaney Benich from right outside the box with a goal in the 25th minute to put the Rangers ahead 1-0.
Halle Stork (Stanwood, Mich./Big Rapids) recorded the loss in goal, playing the first half, allowed one goal and picked up two saves.
Moore was able to get another assist for the Rangers, this time she found Chloe Couves to give Parkside the 2-0 advantage.
Kiana Chandler (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) looked to make it a one score match but Parkside was right there to save her shot attempt.
PNW was able to get on the scoreboard in the 78th minute as Parkside had an own goal to make it 2-1.
Kelley Sharp (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) started the second half in goal, allowing only one goal and recording three saves.
PNW qualified for the GLIAC Tournament in their second season in the conference; The team returns to action next Tuesday, October 30 as the Pride takes on Grand Valley State starting at 2 p.m. CT.
