DETROIT, Mich. -- The Purdue University Northwest women's tennis team dropped their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference finale against host Wayne State on Sunday.

The Warriors (8-2, 7-2 GLIAC) defeated the Pride (3-9, 0-9 GLIAC), 7-0, at WSU Tennis Courts.

WSU won all three doubles matches to go ahead 1-0. Lena van Bergen (Wesel, Germany) and Patricia Dizon (Arlington Heights, Ill./St. Viator) won two games at No. 1 singles but WSU's Dasha Kuznetsova and Khadija Da-Silva won the match, 6-2.

van Bergen went to a three-set tiebreaker at No. 1 singles but ultimately fell to Kuznetsova, 6-3, 6-7, 10-5. Giulia Castiglioni (Lugano, Switzerland) won four games in the first set at No. 2 singles but WSU's Laura Cazacu won the match, 6-4, 6-0. 

Anna Wachowski (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) won two games of each of her sets at No. 6 singles but WSU's Astrid Ciellza won the match, 6-2, 6-2. Carolina Yepez (Guayaquil, Ecuador) won a game in each of her sets at No. 5 singles but WSU's Stephanie Stamate picked up the victory, 6-1, 6-1. 

PNW concludes their fall championship season and did not make the GLIAC Tournament. The Pride will be back to action on February 15 as they travel to William Jewell College starting at 10 a.m. CT.
