HAMMOND, Ind. -- The Purdue Northwest men's soccer seniors owned the day as the Pride captured a third straight conference victory over the Northwood Timberwolves (6-8-1) Sunday at Pepsi Field. Felix Guenzel (Munich, Germany/Anne-Frank Gymnasium Erding) had his second straight game with a goal, while Brad Brack (Crown Point, Ind./Merrillville) earned his fifth win of the season after posting a clean sheet.

The first half was a dogfight, as neither team was able to find the back of the net. Isaiah Nieves (Lyons Township, Ill./Lyons Township) had a few attacking chances but he was unable to score. The Pride controlled the majority of the possession time and kept the ball on the opposite side most of the half.

The second half continued to be controlled by the black and gold. In the 62nd minute, Guenzel was able to give PNW the lead with a strike into the upper right corner off the assist from Enrique Serna (Majadahonda, Spain/Colegio San Jaime). It was Guenzel's second career goal, with his first coming Friday against Northern Michigan. Both of Guenzel's goals were game winners as well as the Pride have captured five of their last six conference matches.

Brack continued his impressive run as the keeper for the Pride, as he made one save on the only shot on goal from the Timberwolves on the afternoon. PNW's back line defense has continued to shine, led by reigning GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week Grant Ugarte (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn) and senior Jonny Harkin (Birmingham, England/College of St. Scholastica). 

With Sunday's win, Purdue Northwest has secured a home match in the first round of the GLIAC Men's Soccer tournament. It will be the Pride's first-ever home GLIAC postseason match. It will be played Tuesday, October 30th with a time to be determined.
