LEXINGTON, Ohio. - The Purdue Northwest women's tennis team dropped a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match to host Ashland University on Saturday afternoon.

Ashland started off winning all three doubles matches to go ahead 1-0 but the Pride would have multiple close singles matches throughout the day. 

Lena van Bergen (Wesel, Germany) came from behind after dropping the first set in #1 singles, 1-6 to defeat her opponent Gabriella Hudec 6-3,6-4 in the following sets. 

Giulia Castiglioni (Lugano, Switzerland) dropped her #2 singles matchup against Brianna Brdicka, Camile Ringot would defeat Pia Schmedding (Hamburg, Germany) in two sets but Patricia Dizon (Arlington Heights, Ill.) won a thriller over Anna Hart, 6-7, 6-2, 10-8.

Caorlina Yepez (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Unidad Educativa Nuevo Mundo) would win her #5 singles match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 and Anna Wachowski (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) dropped her #6 singles match against Allison brooks to wrap up the Pride's scoring. 

PNW returns to the court tomorrow morning with a GLIAC contest in Detroit, Mich. at Wayne State University at 9 am (CST)
