Box Score HAMMOND, Ind. – Clinching a spot in the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Soccer Tournament in the process, Purdue University Northwest played league-leading Northwood University (Mich.) to a 0-0 draw after two overtime periods Sunday afternoon at Pepsi Field in Dowling Park in Hammond, Ind.
With a loss by Northern Michigan earlier in the day and the point from the tie, the Pride have guaranteed a spot in the upcoming conference tournament with one conference regular season game left to be played.
Playing in his first career game for PNW, sophomore Bradley Brack (Crown Point, Ind./Merrillville) had a great debut recording four saves over his 110 minutes in goal. The Pride out-shot the visiting Timberwolves, 13-7, and also held a 5-4 advantage for shots on goal Sunday. Freshman Justin Barragan (Berwyn, Ill./Morton West) led the attack for Purdue Northwest finishing with two shots on goal.
Prior to the start of the game, the five seniors on the 2017 PNW roster were recognized in honor of Senior Day. This group included: Miguel David (San Diego, Calif./Bonita Vista), Djordje Cancarevic (Sabec, Serbia/Chippewa), Jose Andriano (Mexico City, Mexico/John F. Kennedy), Zac Doepke (Troy, Mich./Troy), Jesus Holguin (San Diego, Calif./Bonita Vista).
Purdue Northwest (3-8-3 overall/2-7-2 GLIAC) heads up to Grand Rapids, Mich., to take on Davenport University (Mich.) for a conference road match-up on Friday, October 27. The regular season finale for the Pride is scheduled for a 6 p.m. CT start at the DU Turf Field in Grand Rapids.
