Box Score HAMMOND, Ind. – The Purdue Northwest women's soccer team fell in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play, 7-0, to host Davenport University (Mich.) Sunday at DU Turf Field in Grand Rapids, Mich. Junior Kelley Sharp (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) finished the game with nine saves playing the entire 90 minutes in goal for the Pride.
The Panthers scored their first goal in the 19th minute off a shot by Alayna Hilgendorf. The Pride played solid defense the rest of the first half and trailed 1-0 at the break. However, DU scored a pair of goals in the 51st and 53 minutes with the first coming again from Hilgendorf and the second on a shot by Ashlyn Skidmore. The Panthers pulled away later in the half scoring goals in the 65th, 76th 82nd and 85th minutes.
Junior Shelby Ross (Marquette, Mich./Columbus North) led the attack for the Black & Gold posting seven total shots, including four of the team's six shots on goal. Junior Shayna Coy (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Luers) and freshman Kelly Covaciu (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) each also had a shot on goal for PNW Sunday.
Purdue Northwest (0-14-0 overall/0-9-0) returns home and hosts Davenport University (Mich.) for a non-conference match-up on Friday, October 27. The game is scheduled for an 11 a.m. CT start at Pepsi Field in Dowling Park in Hammond. Prior to the game, the Pride will honor their 2017 senior class in recognition of Senior Day.
