HAMMOND, Ind. -- Sophomore Brianna Baez (Hammond, Ind./Whiting) and senior Abby Kvackhoff (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) won Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) singles matches to lead the way for Purdue Northwest, but it was not enough as the Pride women's tennis team fell to Tiffin, 7-2, at the Community Hospital Tennis Complex Saturday in Hammond, Ind.

Baez won her first career singles match in GLIAC competition at No. 6 singles in convincing fashion only losing one game against Tiffin's Carrie Wiedner, 6-1, 6-0.  Kvackhoff claimed her fourth match in conference play, seventh overall on the season at No. 6 singles against Tiffin's Sarah Herald, 6-0, 6-1.

Carolina Yepez (Guayaquil, Ecuador) fought hard at No. 2 singles against Tiffin's Lauren Price almost forcing a third set by winning four games in the second set, but ultimately fell, 6-1, 6-4.  Lena van Bergen (Wesel, Germany) bounced back after the first set and won three games in the second set, but dropped her match at No. 1 singles to Tiffin's Adel Musina, 6-0, 6-3.

Tiffin started the match on a strong point, winning all three doubles matches.  Van Bergen and Kvackhoff won two games in their first match together at No. 2 doubles, but lost their match to Tiffin's Juliette Sirgent, 8-2.  Yepez and Cynthia Basu-Chavez won a game in their first match at No. 1 doubles, but dropped the contest to Tiffin's Musina and Emily Sim, 8-1.

Anna Wachowski (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) and Chloe Conaway (Highland, Ind./Highland) picked up a game in their first match together at No. 3 doubles, but ultimately fell to Tiffin's Prince and Milah Ryland, 8-1. 

Purdue Northwest has another quick turnaround as the Pride wrap up their GLIAC season as the Pride host Wayne State University (Mich.) Sunday morning at Match Point Tennis and Fitness Club in Griffith, Ind.  The match is scheduled for a 10 a.m. CT start.
