Hyme Leads PNW Women’s Golf After Day One of Battle in Belmont

Belmont, Mich. – Freshman Hannah Hyme (Lancaster, Ohio/Bloom-Carroll) shot a round of 89 to pace the Purdue Northwest women's golf team after the opening day of the two-day Battle in Belmont tournament hosted by Davenport University (Mich.) in Belmont, Mich. The tournament is held at both the Blythefield Country Club as well as the Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Pride are currently in eighth place in the eight-team event with a team score of 372.

Hyme sits in a tie for 34th place in the field with her first round score of 89. Freshman Sydney Valiska (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) shot a 93 to tie for 40th place after the opening round, while freshmen Candace Chandler (Middletown, Ind./Shenandoah) and freshman Elizabeth Huston (Yale, Mich./Yale) both shot rounds of 95 to tie for 43rd place Monday. Wayne State University (Mich.) leads the team standings after the first round with a team score of 311.

Purdue Northwest wraps up play in the Battle in Belmont and its fall season on Tuesday, October 17, with a final round of 18.
