Racheal Smith joined the Purdue University Calumet Athletic Department as Head Athletic Trainer in 2013. She is responsible for overseeing all aspect of sports medicine coverage for Peregrine Athletics. Her responsibilities include prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of student-athletes; helping handle insurance claims; managing the athletic training room; and coordinating athletic training coverage at all Purdue Calumet sporting events and practices.

A certified athletic trainer for Dougherty Therapeutics, Smith spent the past two years as the head athletic trainer at Indiana University Northwest. There she administered first aid, performed initial evaluations, treated acute and chronic injuries, operated different modalities, and designed rehabilitation programs for Redhawk student-athletes.

A graduate of Clarke University with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training, Smith is also American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certified.
