Purdue Northwest Athletics has announced Michael Moffitt as the new Assistant Coach for the Cross Country and Track & Field programs.

"We are so thrilled to have Michael join us here at PNW," said Tommy Whittacker, Head Cross Country, Track & Field Coach. "He brings tons of knowledge and experience to this role and we are so blessed to have him here."

Moffitt brings his talents to Hammond after working at Grace College for several years as the Director of Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country. While there, he had the had the highest National Team Rankings ever for Men (#3 Indoor/#10 Outdoor) and Women (#15 Indoor/#23 Outdoor) Track & Field, 115 NAIA National Qualifiers, Three NAIA National Champions, 83 All-Conference performers, 31 Conference Champions, Two-time NCCAA Men's National Team Champions and Three-time NCCAA Women's National Team Champions, and was a Five-Time NCCAA Coach of the Year (2x Cross Country & 3x Track & Field).

Prior to his time at Grace College, Moffitt spent a year at Eastern University where he was the Director of Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country. At Eastern, he helped guide the program with One All-American, Two All-Region performers, 43 MAC Championship qualifiers, 18 All-MAC performers, and Three MAC Champions while also enhancing recruiting and visit experiences.

Moffitt spent two years as a graduate assistant at Indiana Wesleyan University where he served as an assistant and jumps coach. He was a member of the coaching staff that earned 2019 NAIA Program of the Year and coached Three NAIA National qualifiers and an All-American.

"I'm eager to help continue building this young program that has already had great success. There is an incredible staff in place so I can't wait to work alongside them to provide the best experience for our student-athletes." 

Moffitt was a four-year member of the Indiana Wesleyan Track & Field team and was Eight-time National Champion in high jump and Two-time USAFT National Championship qualifier. He was also the IWU Male Athlete of the Year in 2015-2016 and Scholar-Athlete from 2013-17.

Moffitt earned his bachelors degree in political science with a psychology minor from Indiana Wesleyan in 2017. He then earned his masters degree in sports administration from Fresno Pacific University in 2019.
