Randy Wexter

Randy Wexter begins his fifth season as the head coach of both the men's and women's golf programs in 2020-21.

During the first season as head coach of the Pride, Wexter led the men's golf team to a sixth place finish at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. Wexter also led the Black and Gold to a trio of first place finishes at the Trinity Christian Fall Invite, PNW Fall Classic and Mike Lalaeff Memorial Tournament. The Pride also had three second place finishes and one third place team finish on the season.

As women's head coach, Wexter led the Pride to a first place finish at the PNW Fall Classic, and a sixth place finish at the CCAC Championships at the end of the season.

Wexter spent two seasons as the head coach of the Purdue University Calumet men's program after taking the helm in March 2015.

He wasted no time in aiding the continued rise of the Purdue Calumet men’s golf program, as he led the 2014-15 squad to new program records in team 36-hole round (609) and oversaw then-sophomore Patrick Mudd’s shattering of the school’s 18-hole record with a new mark of 71. Mudd went on to capture Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week honors and later won two events over the summer, including the Gary Amateur and Aberdeen Open.

In 2016, he led the Peregrines to its first-ever team title, as Purdue Calumet captured the Indiana East Spring Invitational championship in April with a two-day score of 646.

Off the course, Wexter oversaw Mudd’s academic excellence, as the junior earned his first NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete award and was named the department’s Howard B. Cohen Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Wexter comes to Purdue Northwest after 24 years as a Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) Professional at Calumet Country Club in Homewood, Ill. He also held the Director of Golf, General Manager and Consulting General Manager positions during his time at Calumet CC.

Wexter has also held golf professional positions at Point O’ Woods Golf & Country Club in Benton, Harbor, Mich. and Dubuque Golf & Country Club in Dubuque, Iowa.  He is a Class "A" member of the PGA.

On the coaching side, the New Lenox, Ill., resident has given numerous individual and group lessons, (including collegiate and professional golfers) and volunteered as an instructor for Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference member Trinity Christian College, Homewood-Flossmoor High School, and New Lenox Public Schools.

In addition to his coaching duties, Wexter also serves as the Director of Instruction at SPG Green Garden Golf Academy in Frankfort, Ill., where he teaches golfers of all ages.

Wexter holds his bachelor’s degree in communication and public relations from Northern Iowa. He is a native of Waterloo, Iowa, and lives in New Lenox with his wife, Sara.

Together they have four children, Halligan, Jenna, Connor and Michael.
