#17 D1 Hockey opens season with a weekend sweep over Kentucky

The #17 Purdue Northwest ACHA D1 Hockey team opened the 2026-27 season in dominant fashion, sweeping a two-game home series against Kentucky as the Lions rolled to a 6-1 victory in the opener before holding off the Wildcats 2-1 Saturday night at The Kube.

The weekend sweep gave PNW a perfect 2-0 start to the season while showcasing a balanced offensive attack and strong goaltending across both games.

Game 1 (W, 6-1)

Inside The Numbers
