#7 DI Hockey splits weekend series with Davenport

The #7 Purdue Northwest ACHA DI Hockey team split their weekend series against Davenport in two hard-fought match-ups this past weekend. The Pride defeated the Panthers this past Thursday in a 3-0 shutout while falling on Saturday, 3-1.

Game 1
Inside The Numbers
  • Freshman Mason Cole (Saginaw, Mich.), junior Carter Hobbs (Des Moines, Iowa/), and junior Michael Clough (Andover, Minn./) each led the Pride with one goal.
  • Freshman Easton Tok (Eau Claire, Wis.) added two assists for Purdue Northwest.
  • Sophomore Cooper Olson (Maple Grove, Minn./) played all 60 minutes between the pipes for the Pride and recorded 35 saves to earn another shutout.
  • Nathan Gauthier started in goal for the Panthers playing all 60 minutes in goal and made 38 saves.

  • The Pride scored their first goal late in the second period to grab a 1-0 lead heading into the third.
  • Purdue Northwest scored two goals in the third period to bring the score up to 3-0.

  • Cole added one assist during the game for Purdue Northwest.
  • Olson played all 60 minutes between the pipes for the Pride once again and recorded 24 saves.
  • Three different Davenport players scored one goal to lead the team.
  • Kyler Lowden earned the start in goal for the Panthers playing all 60 minutes and made 31 saves to help tally the win.
The Breakdown
  • Neither team was able to light up the lamp in the first period going scoreless to the second, 0-0.
  • Davenport grabbed the lead in the second period to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Several minutes after the Panthers goal, Masloski scored the game-tying goal for Purdue Northwest to make it 1-1.
  • Davenport regained the lead later in the second period and hold a 2-1 advantage going into the third period.
  • The Panthers added another goal in the third to make it 3-1 to grow their lead.
  • The Pride were not able to capitalize on several man-advantages during the third and couldn't get any more scoring as they fell in the end in a tough road game, 3-1.
