#21 ACHA DI Hockey sweeps Roosevelt after winter break

The #21 Purdue Northwest ACHA DI Hockey team returned to the ice after their winter break and swept Roosevelt in a weekend series earning a win on home ice on Friday night, 5-2, and notching the victory on the road, 6-3, on Saturday.

Game 1 
Inside The Numbers
  • Junior Craig Herman (Bloomington, Minn./Bloomington Kennedy HS) and freshman Charlie Smith (Waterdown, Ontario/) both led the Pride notching two goals each and two assists.

  • Freshman Sam Bourdages (Hearst, Ontario/) chipped in two assists for Purdue Northwest.

The Breakdown

  • Hayes started the scoring in the second period with a goal on a power play to put the Pride up 1-0.
  • Smith notched his first goal in the second period to make it 2-0 with ten minutes remaining in the period.
  • Roosevelt stormed back and scored two straight goals to tie the game up 2-2.

  • Sophomore Jacob Toland (Oshawa, Ontario/) and freshman Hayden Masloski each chipped in one goal during the game.
  • Olson played all 60 minutes between the pipes for the Pride and grabbed 41 saves.
  • Bdzoch scored two goals again to lead Roosevelt.
  • Paolo Suppa started and played all 60 minutes in goal for the Lakers and made 45 saves.
The Breakdown
  • The Pride grabbed an early 2-0 lead after period one.
  • Purdue Northwest scored two more goals while Roosevelt scored one in the second period and take a 4-1 lead heading into the third.
  • Both teams each scored two goals in the third period, but saw Purdue Northwest take the final victory, 6-3.
