HAMMOND, Ind. – The Purdue University Northwest men's ice hockey team will be the top seed in the Northern Collegiate Hockey League ACHA D2 conference tournament, hosted by Marian University (Wis.) in Fond du Lac, Wis. at the Blue Line Family Ice Center.
Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $5 for students.
The Pride are scheduled to play fourth-seeded St. Norbert in Friday's Orange Division semifinal with puck drop set for 9:30 a.m. CST. If the Pride win, Saturday's championship game for the Bruno Goblet is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. CST against the winner of No. 2 seed UW-Oshkosh and No. 3 seed Northern Michigan.
It'll be the first postseason appearance in team history after the program was established just three years ago.
"We are excited for the opportunity to compete for a championship," said head coach
Nick Tomczyk. "Our guys have worked extremely hard this semester to finish the regular season strong."
PNW swept St. Norbert this past weekend with a 5-1 victory on Friday and 6-1 triumph on Saturday to clinch the regular season NCHL Orange Division title. The Pride wrapped up the regular season with a 15-14 overall record and 6-1 record against divisional opponents. Overall, PNW went 9-6 against NCHL opponents.
The 11 NCHL teams are split into two divisions (black and orange). The top four teams in each division qualify for separate conference tournaments. The black divisional champion will hoist the Philip E. Schroeder Memorial Trophy, or "Hap Cup", and the orange divisional champion will take home the Breunig's "Bruno" Goblet.
