DI Hockey lights up Huskies in weekend series

The Purdue Northwest ACHA DI Hockey team lit up the Northern Illinois Huskies in ACHA Men's Division I action over weekend winning 6-0 on Friday night and dominating on Saturday afternoon, 8-2.

The Basics

Inside The Numbers
  • Freshman Andrew Remer (Lake Orion, Mich.) led Purdue Northwest over the weekend with three goals and one assist. His three goals came on Saturday with his first career hat-trick.
  • Junior Craig Herman (Bloomington, Minn./Bloomington Kennedy HS) notched two goals and one assist.
  • Freshman Noah Murphy (Faribault, Minn.) added two goals and three goals in two games.
  • Junior Duncan McCourt (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville Community HS) scored two goals for the Pride.
  • Freshman Michael Clough (Andover, Minn.) and freshman Jordan Degouw each tallied three assists over the weekend series. Clough also added a goal.
  • Freshman Cooper Olson (Maple Grove, Minn.) played every minute between the pipes for the Pride and earned both wins. He stopped a total of 34 shots over the two games.
  • Rodahn Evans and Hunter Wahl each scored a goal to lead the Huskies.
  • Ben Vutci played in goal for the first game for Northern Illinois and made 55 saves. Matthew Capek started in net for the Huskies in the second game and grabbed 32 saves during the contest.
The Breakdown
  • In Game 1, the Pride rallied off five goals in the first period to take control of the game.
  • In Game 2, with the contest tied 2-2, Purdue Northwest scored four straight goals in second period to take a commanding 6-2 lead.
  • The Pride scored two more goals in the third period of Game 2 to seal the win.
  • Purdue Northwest scored a total of 14 goals with four of them power play scores.
  • The Pride did not give up any power play goals over the weekend.
