LEMONT, Ill. – Senior
Libby Huston recorded an 81 to lead the Purdue Northwest women's golf team in Monday's opening round at the Flyer Intercollegiate, hosted by Lewis University at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club.
PNW recorded a team score of 347 in the first round of the 36-hole tournament. The Pride will enter Tuesday's final round in 11th place and 12 strokes from cracking the top 10.
Huston carded the lone birdie on the day for the Pride, which came on the Par 3 fourth hole. The senior shot 1-under over the first six holes on the front nine. She is currently tied for 25th on the leaderboard at 9-over.
Freshmen
Halie Wolf shot an 85 while freshman
Kaitlyn Valiska recorded an 86 during the round. Rounding out the PNW lineup was sophomores
Miriah Gabel (95) and
Catherine Brzycki (101).
The host team Lewis leads Upper Iowa by only two strokes heading into the final round. Winona State and McKendree are tied for third place while Maryville (MO) sits in fifth.
Tuesday's second round is scheduled for a 10 a.m. CT shotgun start.
