Box Score MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Led by a blistering shooting performance from sophomore Chandler Spring (Covington, Ind./Covington), the Purdue University Northwest men's basketball team put together a dominating offensive performance in Saturday's 95-76 road win over Cardinal Stritch.
Spring (Covington, Ind./Covington) scored 24 of his career-high 34 points in the first half, when he made 9-of-11 shots from the field including 5-of-6 from behind the arc that helped the Pride (7-11, 5-5 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference take a comfortable 55-34 lead at the half.
Spring would go on to finish 12-of-16 from the field and 7-of-10 from the 3-point line, setting career-bests in field goals made and 3-point field goals in the process. Junior teammate Torrance Johnson (Chicago Heights, Ill./Chicago Hope Academy) (Chicago Heights, Ill./Chicago Hope Academy) added his 11th double-double of the season, netting 17 points (8-of-14 from the field) and 10 rebounds and classmate Tyree Coe (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) added 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting for PNW.
The Pride shot a blistering 63.3 percent (38-of-60) from the field and 61.1 percent (11-of-18) from deep, both season-bests, and held the Wolves (10-9. 6-3 CCAC) to just 39.7 percent (29-of-73) from the field and 26.1 percent (6-of-23) from 3.
Pride senior Shereff Knight (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) chipped in 10 points, eight assists, five rebounds, three steals, and two blocks, and Spring added nine boards in the effort, which snapped a two-game losing streak and evened up PNW's conference record at 5-5.
PNW trailed just once in the contest, 4-3, at the 18:29 mark of the first half before enacting a 29-1 over the next eight and a half minutes to take a 32-14 lead with 10:03 before the half.
Carlos Knox led Stritch with 25 points in the loss.
Purdue Northwest returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 11, with a CCAC road contest at Trinity Christian College. Game time in Palos Heights, Ill., is set for 7:30 p.m. CT.
